The Greater Toronto Area Alumnae Chapter supports the following organization and programs under its Economic Development Thrust:

Money Matters: Workshop Series – This is an annual, free, weekly virtual workshop series held every February and facilitated by industry experts to support members of the community. Topics that have been covered include:

  • Helping first-time home buyers on their path to purchasing their first home or investment property
  • Strategies for building financial resilience
  • Best financial practices for the current time, the value of life insurance for you and your loved ones, and bereavement planning.

Abiona Centre for Infant and Early Health – Abiona
Abiona Centre is a client-centred infant and early childhood mental health organization which supports pregnant and parenting adolescents, aged 13-25. GTAAC has worked with the women who use Abiona to provide information on topics such as:

Youth Program for Black History Month: Black History/Delta History

Jaku-Konbit – JakuKonbit
GTAAC works with Jaku Konbit located in the Ottawa-area and is an organization that assists African and Caribbean individuals, families, and anyone seeking to engage in economic and civic pursuits in Canadian society.

International Women’s Day – International Womens Day
International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

Earth Day Awareness – Earth Day
Earth Day Canada helps people across the country recognize and celebrate the largest environmental event in the world, every year on April 22nd.

World AIDS DayAIDS Day
World AIDS Day is a global movement to unite people in the fight against HIV and AIDS and is recognized every year on December 1.

Canadian Blood ServicesCanadian Blood Services
Twice a year, the Greater Toronto Area Alumnae Chapter partners with Canadian Blood Services to conduct a blood drive within the communities that the chapter serves.
Tomorrow, next week and next month, the need for blood is constant.

Canadian Cancer Society – CIBC Run for the Cure – Run for the Cure
The Run for the Cure is Canada’s largest single day, volunteer-led event in the support of creating a future without breast cancer. The event has nearly 100,000 participants and raises over $17 million annually in communities across Canada.
This event brings together an incredible community of people who have a personal connection to breast cancer and want to show their support. It’s an inspirational day that raises significant funds for CCS, the largest charitable funder of breast cancer research in Canada. CCS invests these dollars in the most promising breast cancer research that is leading the way in prevention, diagnosis and treatment and care, as well as funding Canada’s leading breast cancer patient support network, which works to improve the quality of life and the emotional support needed for those affected by this disease.

Sit and Get FitShepherd Village Retirement Home 
Shepherd Village is Toronto’s largest not-for-profit seniors community and has been dedicated to the well-being of seniors since 1961. Our Sit and Get Fit program is a seated movement class geared towards a more mature population of various physical abilities. The class emphasizes hand/eye coordination, manual dexterity, and range of motion. The class also encourages laughter, group engagement, and a spirit of mental vitality within the residents.

World AIDS Day – Canadian AIDS Society
World AIDS Day on December 1st of each year – is a day dedicated to increasing awareness of HIV/AIDS issues worldwide as we support the UNAIDS visionary goal to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030.

The Greater Toronto Area Alumnae Chapter supports the following organization under the Political Awareness and Involvement Thrust:

Delta Days at Queen’s Park (DDQP) – Delta Days at Queens Park is a rallying call to engage in political and social action and for more advocacy, education, and critical community engagement. The inaugural DDQP series of events were held May 28-30, 2024.

Operation Black Vote Canada – Facebook – Operation Vote Canada
Non-partisan, not for profit whose aim is to get more Black Canadians to the polls

Program Awards

While we focus our energies on creating meaningful and thoughtful programming, it is always a bonus when our achievements are recognized at the National and Regional levels.

Our chapter has won multiple awards for our programming since we’ve been chartered. We are so proud to have our work recognized as we do the work of Delta and prove that we may be small, but we are MIGHTY!
