Despite the limitations of COVID-19, GTAAC members were still committed to MW Impact Day of Service in 2020.
Keeping to the theme of this year’s MIDS Day, “supporting our essential workers,” GTAAC chose Women’s Health in Women’s Hands (https://www.whiwh.com/) as the organization to contribute to. Women’s Health in Women’s Hands is a Community Health Centre that provides primary healthcare to racialized women from the African, Black, Caribbean, Latin American and South Asian communities in Toronto and surrounding municipalities.
The chapter reached out to Loblaws Company who provided a gift card whose value was supplemented by the chapter. The gift card and an African Violet plant were presented to Chantal Carey, Mental Health Promotion Coordinator, and Lori-Ann Green-Walker, Executive Director at WHIWH. The gift card will be used to purchase items for their food bank.
It was a pleasure meeting the staff, and the chapter has now added a new partner to their community service programs!
